Registration is OPEN and will close when we reach 50 swimmers, and a waitlist will be started.
Changes to your registration (i.e., downgrading to a shorter distance) will not be permitted after June 15, 2022.
$275 for either distance
Each swimmer must raise a minimum of $1,500 for either distance. Kayakers are encouraged to also fundraise. All funds go to support sending kids to camp at Brigadoon Village.
Every swimmer must be accompanied by a Paddle Canada Level 1 Certified kayaker. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to acquire a qualified kayaker and without one, they will not be permitted to swim. Each kayaker is required to acquire the necessary safety gear, as recommended by Transport Canada. Without this safety gear, the kayaker will not be permitted to paddle, leaving their swimmer without a paddler.
Swimmers and kayakers will be required to attend a mandatory safety meeting on Saturday, August 20, 2022
Participants need to book and pay for their own rooms. We have a block of standard rooms at The Inverary Resort. To access the block mention you’re with The BIG SWIM when you call 1-800-565-5660. The block will be in place until June 15, 2022.
Should the Public Health rules and gathering limits in place in August 2022 allow us to, we’d love to welcome back spectators. All spectators will need to be up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations, as required by the Nova Scotia Government on event weekend. They will need to present their proof of vaccinations and ID when they arrive at the event on event weekend. Visit novascotia.ca for details.
Have you ever considered swimming across the Northumberland Strait? Most haven’t. But for those who have there is the BIG SWIM, your chance to do something truly epic. The BIG SWIM is a supported event held in August each year that combines an epic feat of endurance with the opportunity to raise funds for an awesome charity. The BIG SWIM is not a race and supports swimmers of all abilities to get out into the Northumberland Strait and achieve the unimaginable.
