CUTS FOR THE CURE
The Sobeys “Haircuts for the Cure” event this past weekend raised over $9000.00 for the war on cancer!
Staff at five Sobeys stores, Queen Street Location, Sobeys North and Windsor, Bedford, Fall River and Windsor, Nova Scotia, were fundraising for weeks with GIVETOLIVE and this weekend more than 50 employees went under the razor for GIVETOLIVE. The top store was Queen Street Sobeys, where the staff raised a combined total of $3000.00! Their front end manager Tara shaved off her shoulder length locks and was also the top individual fundraiser. GIVETOLIVE was honored and proud to be a part of such an inspiring event and to see so many individuals contribute to the war on cancer.

Thanks to each manager and staff member from Sobey’s who contributed to the Haircuts for the Cure over the past 2 years. Sobeys has been a great supporter and has raised almost $35,000 for GIVETOLIVE.
It also takes a brave person to ask for pledges and shave their head in front of a crowd of coworkers. What is important to remember, is that cancer kills more than 22,000 people per day; and in 2010, cancer will become the leading killer of humans, taking more lives than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. At GIVETOLIVE, we feel that our projects are an important part of the war against cancer. By teaming up with partner organizations like Sobeys, we have made a commitment to finding a cure.
